1944 – 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Elisabeth Springett.
Jean was born in Canwood on November 29, 1944, with the aid of nurse Lindstrom, the midwife.
Jean passed away in the Shellbrook Hospital on May 25, 2023, at the age of 78.
She got her education at Canwood High School where she excelled in many sports. Her first job was at City Hospital in Saskatoon as a dietary aid. Years later she worked in central supply in Calgary, Edmonton, and Yellowknife Stanton Hospital where she earned her certification. She moved to Red Deer, Alberta, her chosen place to live, and worked at the Red Deer General Hospital for 21 years before retiring to Canwood. Jean was a very caring and giving soul and her years of working in the hospital benefitted many others.
Jean loved to travel, and she has lived in the Yukon, Northwest Territories, Manitoba, and Alberta before retiring. She traveled to destinations many of us could only dream of. After retiring Jean enjoyed gardening and her yard. Her yard will be remembered for her colorful decor and solar lights. She loved to share her produce and flowers with friends. People will miss seeing her walk her little dog, Rosie. Jean had many lifelong friends, more notably Lavern Adrian and Eileen and Malcolm Green. Jean will be sadly missed by many of her past co-workers who kept in touch.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, Ray and Myrtle Robertson, her sister Evelyn and her brothers-in-law, Ken Ingram and Trevor Barge. Jean will be missed by her two loving sisters Ruth Barge and Mary Ann (Ron) Rusnell and their families, and by her two brothers George (Darlene) and Bill (Marilyn) Robertson of Canwood. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
