Obituary of Doug Jackow
Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Douglas Allen Jackow of Candle Lake, SK, passed away on August 4th, 2023, at the age of 70, with his family by his side. Doug was born May 11th, 1953 in Prince Albert, SK, to Roy and Edna Jackow. Doug loved snowmobiling, camping, quadding, motorbiking, and trips in the motorhome with his family. He loved life and enjoyed his time at Candle Lake, SK. Doug retired in 2013 from Frank Dunn Toyota after 38 years of service then moved to Candle Lake, SK. Doug was very involved in the Special Olympics for 30 years, coaching, as a board member, organizing many games, and in travel.
Doug was so proud of his sons. He loved hanging out with them and taught his boys from a very young age to be a Jack of all trades. One of Doug’s favorite things to talk about was how his boys had built “the pirate ship” from scratch and how you could see the boat on Candle Lake, SK, from a far distance.
Family and friends were very important to Doug. He especially enjoyed his friends at the lake, meeting up with his high school friends which he met up with every other year, and spending time with his large extended family.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Edna; sister, Donna; father-in-law, Arsene; and brother-in-law, Danny.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Dezilda; sons Dean (Alicia), Donny (Melissa), and Dallas; grandchildren, Jayden, Ava, Arienna, Dashton, Henry, Georgia; Melissa’s children, Katelyn and Emily; mother-in-law Georgette Pilon; brother, David (Debbie); in-laws, Cecile (Denis), Lorraine, Carol (Normand), Kenny (Rita), Paulette (Danny); and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and at Doug’s request, when you see Dallas, give him a huge hug; because Dallas loves hugs. Memorial donations may be directed to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, Pediatrics, Box 3000 – 1200 24th Street W, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T4 Canada, www.helpthevic.ca.
