Obituary of Fern Chaykowski
Edna Fern Chaykowski of Spiritwood SK passed away September 9th, 2023, in the
Spiritwood Health Care Complex Long Term Care Unit at the age of 91. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Keith (Tammy) his children Bree (Gordon) their children (Shaila, Scott) Deanna her children (Damian, Dreydin) Bruce's children Ryan (Katie) and their children (Rylee, Brette) Donnie and his children (Emberson, Eberle, Nova, Cali, Geri-Fern) Lisa (Dave)their children (Liam, Charlee, Sadie) Brenda (William) her children (Jennifer, Terry (Gina) their children (Kamron, Ava) Amanda (Daniel) Ember, Bentley) Valerie's children Kyle (Kaitlan) his children (Payton, Hallie, Brooklynn) Kathy (Dave) children Lance (Alyssa) their children (Liberty, Justice, Destiny, Harmony) Keith (Kathleen) his children (Sullivan, Alex) Brandon, Alecia (Stuart) her daughter Katelyn, Linda's children Troy (Terri-Ann) his daughter (Madison) Kent his children (Austin, Hailey, Keagan) Chis his children (Ember, Lily, Erica, Mia) Fern's siblings Jack (Jean) Howard, Norma (Noel) Pell, Betty (Roman) Sawicki, Sister in-law Audrey Howard. Numerous other family and friends.
Fern as she liked to be called was born to Lucille and Norman Howard in the Mildred district, she was the 3rd child of eight. She attended Cesco School and when finished she moved to Bruno, SK and worked for a farmer, this is where she met the love of her life Henry Chaykowski. They were married October 27th, 1960, they lived in Bruno, then Prince Albert finally settling in Mildred where whey raised eight children, they were married for 50 years. Fern’s greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren loved playing cards with her, and she always had tea and cookies on hand for them. Fern loved to sing, play guitar, cook, gardening and canning. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to give complements on how beautiful or handsome you looked. After her husband passed away, she moved into a seniors unit in Spiritwood and from there into the long term care were she resided for eight years until her passing. All her family will remember her for her gentle ways, funny songs, how she always made them laugh and her heart of gold.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry and children Linda, Corine, Bruce, and Valerie.
A funeral service to celebrate Fern's life was held Saturday September 16th, 2023, 3:00 at the Pioneer Centre, Spiritwood, SK with Delores Beaulac officiating. The eulogy was prepared and read by her niece Judy Mayo and a slideshow by Lisa Rose. "The Old Rugged Cross” was sang by her nephew Elemer Lammedee, the urn bearer was her daughter Kathy Lange. Fern's final resting place is in the Midred North Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Idylwild Lodge Auxiliary, in memory of Fern Chaykowski as tokens of remembrance.
