Obituary of Wes Neepin
Arthur "Wes" Neepin, late of Prince Albert, beloved husband of Betty passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at the Victoria Hospital. Wesley Arthur Neepin born September 13, 1932, in York Factory First Nation, Manitoba. Wes was the oldest of the five children. Wes was really a self-taught man with only three days of school, before they told him he could not attend because of being native. He stayed home with his mother to help her with the house and children. Wes learned how to fish, hunt, trap and get firewood. Wes would help around the house until the age of 16 where he went to Churchhill to work on the army base, Wes lied about his age to get the job, he worked there for two years before applying to CN Rail and getting that job. He worked for CN Rail for 40 years before retiring. He moved to Regina for a few years, before heading north to settle roots in Prince Albert. Wes continued to fish in the many lakes around Prince Albert. Eventually he would visit the Outpost and became interested in a lady working there. Her name was Betty and they started dating and after a whirlwind romance, Wes asked Betty to marry him and on February 18, 1999, Wes and Betty were married in front of family and friends. Wes and Betty lived in numerous places in Prince Albert before settling in their current place, the Colombian Centre, which Betty is currently still residing. Wes loved to fish in his spare time. He was a member of AA for 40 years. Wes and Betty attended the Grace Mennonite Church for years before it closed and then they moved over to Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly where they attended until Wes’s passing.
Wes is lovingly remembered by his loving wife of 24 years: Elizabeth “Betty”, his children: Rita & Elvis Chaison, Doris Neepin & Warren Champagen, his step-children: Rick & Darlene Parenteau, Donna Coldwell & Chuck Tilford, Terry Parenteau, Conrad & Val Parenteau, Angela & Lyle Demerais, Kim Parenteau & Dennis Ledoux, his step-daughters-in-law: Linda and Sherry Parenteau, his sisters: Elizabeth Connelly and Alice Robertson, many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Wes is predeceased by his parents: Adam and Nancy Neepin, his siblings: Albert Neepin, Irene Ponask, Sarah Pellan, Allen Neepin, his children: Raymond, Arthur, Wesley, and Clara, his granddaughters: Joanne Neepin and Margo Neepin, his step-children: Philip and Bill Parenteau.
There will be a public Visitation on Wednesday October 11, 2023, at 7:00pm - 9:00pm. The Celebration of Life will be held Friday October 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Both services will be held at Crossroads Pentecostal Church, 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Dr, Prince Albert, SK. Final resting place will be in the Deer Park Cemetery.
