Obituary of Evelyn Francoeur

Francoeur-Evelyn passed away peacefully on April 13, 2010 at the Whispering Pine Place Home in Canwood, Sk. at the age of 88 years. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Sylvie (Cliff) Shockey and Suzanne Francoeur. Her sons Gilles (Yvette) Francoeur, Larry (Anita) Francoeur, Albert (Carol) Francoeur, Robert Francoeur (Shannon) and Ronald Francoeur. Thirteen grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her sisters Gabrielle (Tom) Hagerty, Luciene (Lionel) Francoeur and Lilianne (Alex) Blondeau. Her sisters in law Opal Savard, Margarite Frigstad and Therese McMillan. Numerous other relatives & friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gerard in 1994. Her brother Rene. Her sister Antoinette (John) Olafson & Rita Savard. Numerous brothers & sisters in law Evelyn Savard was born April 25, 1921 in Ormeaux Saskatchewan where she grew up helping out as a farmer's daughter. She attended school until grade 10 after which she stayed at home to help with younger siblings and in the regular farm duties. She married Gerard Francoeur on June 2, 1940 and they settled on a small farm near Happy Valley Sask. Evelyn and Gerard raised seven children, two girls and five boys. Evelyn was a very hard working creative woman who knew how to make a dollar go a long way. She was a wonderful cook and loved to prepare meals for her family and friends. There was always a wonderful pot of soup simmering on the stove and a few "tourtieres" waiting in the deep freeze. She loved her husband Gerard and supported him in all his endeavors and nothing pleased her more that giving to her children. In the last four months, Evelyn was a resident of Whispering Pine Place in Canwood. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, April 17th, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Notre Dame Des Victoire Roman Catholic Church in Victoire, Saskatchewan with Rev. Fr. George Canto as Celebrant. The Eulogy was given by Sylvie Francoeur. Lisa Kreese was the Organist. The Music Director was Gilles Francoeur. Robert Francoeur was the Urn Bearer and James Boyenko was the Cross Bearer. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the Whispering Pine Place or the Shellbrook Hospital Fund. Evelyn was laid to rest in the Victoire Cemetery.
