Obituary of Lloyd Rodocker

Rodocker - Lloyd George passed away peacefully on April 17,2010 in Spiritwood,Sask. at the age of 86 years with his family by his side after a couragous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen and his six children - Beth (Rick) Horon and her children, Melanie (Dwayne), Pamela, Aaron (Erin) , Verla and her children, Sarah and William, Edgar (Faye) and his daughter Jodi, Wanda (Rick) and their sons, Stephen, Matthew and Jared, Cindy (Randy) and their children Megan and Clayton and Patty (Gerald) and their sons, Jordan, Michael and Elliot and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Lewis and Lena, his siblings Ernest, August, Bud, Hanna, Francis and Raymond, his mother-in-law Flora Beeds and a great grandson, Nathan. Lloyd was born on Jan. 2, 1924 in Leask, Sask. to Louis and Lena Rodocker. He attended Lonesome Pine and Restal School. In August of 1943 Lloyd joined the RCAF on the west coast of Vancouver Island. He was discharged in 1946 and a year later began his career in farming. In 1954 he apprecticed as a plumber under his brother-in-law Ken Jones and in 1963 obtained his journeyman certificate. On April 17, 1959 he married Kathleen Beeds and they just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. He took great pride in the family they raised together. Lloyd was the first person to do custom plumbing in the Shell Lake and surrounding area. Out of generosity he donated his services to the Lions Hall and the skating arena. He later owned and operated his own backhoe service and also obtained his gas fitters license. Nicknamed "The Roadrunner" because of his love of people and his work, Lloyd found it very difficult to slow down and continued doing small jobs and giving advice till his illness prevented such. Lloyd had a love of music and found enjoyment in playing whenever he got the chance. He had fond memories of playing in a band in his younger days. During the summer months, Lloyd could always be found following the Chuckwagon circuit with Kay. He was an avid gardener and took pride in a good crop. He was very generous in sharing it as well. Lloyd died as he lived, everyone's friend. His passion for life was there to the end. Funeral services will be held in the Shell Lake Lions Hall on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Shell Lake Cemetery.
