Obituary of Dawn Angela Nagy
Dawn Angela Nagy (Crawford) was born to Janice Lawrie and Jim Smith on March 4, 1975, at the Holy Family Hospital. Dawn was raised in the Prince Albert area, but ventured to Sturgeon Valley, Shellbrook, Holbein and La Ronge.
Dawn married her long- time partner Kent Nagy on June 4, 2023. They held their ceremony at the Shellbrook Long Term Care Facility so that her grandmother Joyce Lawrie could be there. It was Dawn’s wish to be married with her grandma in attendance. Followed by a wonderful fun filled celebration on July 24, 2023 in their yard.
Dawn represented Saskatchewan in the Gauss Mathematics contest, math just seemed to be easy for her and she excelled at it. When she decided to obtain her grade 12 she wrote her GED. She scored in the top 2 percent of Canadians writing the GED and received a letter of recognition from the Minister is Education.
Dawn had many interests during her working career. It seemed that no matter what she set her mind to accomplish she was successful. Dawn has worked in every mine in Northern Saskatchewan, starting in 1998 for Tyson Minning as the flight clerk and then apprenticed with SackCal as an Electrician. Switching to the office as the Data Turn Over Coordinator. She was affectionately known as “The Binder Lady”. Kent and Dawn then started their own business involving heavy equipment. She did the bookkeeping and obtained her 1A Driver’s license so she could help in the field.
Dawn had many hobbies and interests, including motorcycles, cars, karaoke, poker, card games, fishing, camping, board games, hockey, football, golf, antiques, collecting vintage glass, spending time at the camper at Emma Lake, playing acoustic guitar, reading and she had started to play goaltender at the outdoor rink. All of these she perused avidly. There were many group gatherings in their home, with friends and family. Barbeques and deep-fried turkey, poker and drinks, it was always a fun evening. One of Dawn‘s life passions was her pets, she has always had horses, dogs, cats, rats, and reptiles. Her love and compassion for the cats grew into supporting cat rescues. She leaves behind her dogs, Sydney and Dante, her cats, Tinker Bell, Cheeto, Waco, Piper, Garry and Herbie, her leopard gecko Noob Noob, and her bearded dragon Lulu.
Dawn is survived by her husband Kent Nagy; daughter Shelby Boy; her mother Janice Lawrie; her father Jim (Pilar) Smith; her sisters Shelly Armstrong (Randy), Theresa Smith, Jennifer Baluch (Ty), and numerous other relatives. Dawn is predeceased by her grandparents Jim and Joyce Lawrie, Ann Either (Joseph Smith) and Louis Either; her uncle Forrest (Diane) Lawrie; aunts Jean Ryan and Kathy Lawrie.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Dawn on June 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Wild Rose Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Wild Rose Public School, please bring a few of your favourite pictures for our friends and family memory album.
