Obituary of Blanche Mary Slater

Blanche Mary Slater (née Fiddler) was born on August 20, 1932. She was the second eldest born in the family to Octave Sr. and Lucy. Blanche married Leo Slater and together they built their first home in Prince Albert, SK, as Leo was an avid carpenter. Later, they purchased land from Robin Bibby, 5 miles south of Prince Albert. Here they started a farm and built a new home.

Blanche Worked at the Coronet Hotel, PA Quick Clean Drycleaners, and for a cleaning company. Blanche also worked in the kitchen at the old Mont St. Joseph Home. She praised the work that the nuns did there.

Blanche is survived by her brother-in-law, Denis (Karen) Slater; sister-in-law, Therese Slater; special niece, Debbie (Wayne) Acorn; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  

Blanche is predeceased by her parents, Octave Sr. and Lucy Fiddler; husband, Leo; sister, Margorie (Gilbert) Parenteau; brother, Octave Jr. (Fern) Fiddler; parents-in-law, David (Elmira) Slater; sisters-in-law, Cathy (Ed) Basaraba and Albert and Joanne Kurtenbach, Aline and Alfred Henry; brother-in-law, Johnny Slater; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday April 22, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4 Ave W, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 2 South.
