Obituary of Beatrice Joan Brigette Mary Wasylenka

‘Bette’ Beatrice Joan Brigette Mary Wasylenka was born to Walter and Nettie Pasloski of Rama, SK. She was one of seven siblings, four brothers, Leonard, Tom, Richard, and Jerry, and two sisters, Elaine and Jeanette. Her family was the world to her.

Her education began in a small country school in the Dobrowody district, near Rama, SK, area, a mile from her home. In the summer, the children cycled to school and in the winter, they traveled in a horse drawn toboggan. Bette went to high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton, SK, and completed her high school education at Rama Composite High School. She proceeded to stenographer and worked at various locations in Western Canada in this capacity. Her employment began in Calgary, AB, then on to Coquitlam, BC, Nelson, BC, Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, Yukon Territory, and finally at Loon Lake, SK. Bette married Al Wasylenka, an RCMP officer, in 1971, at Coquitlam, BC, hence the various locations of her employment.

Bette passed away at her home in Christopher Lake, SK, on April 19, 2024, her residence of 33 years. Bette never complained about being ill in their 53 years of marriage. She was a very independent and feisty person who spoke her mind and took no guff from anyone, not even her husband.

Bette enjoyed living in Christoper Lake, SK, her yard was always her domain, with flowers surrounding her home. She loved the birds, geese, ducks, and deer that came to the property. She was very fond of her flowers, especially her lilies. Each spring she would travel to a green house in Cudworth, SK, and return with a truck load of various flowers. Her yard will never be the same without her.

Bette is survived by her loving husband, Al; brother, Leonard Pasloski of Saskatoon, SK; sisters, Elaine Olson of Rama, SK and Jeanette Rusk of Edmonton, AB; along with her numerous nieces and nephews whom she cherished. She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Nettie Pasloski; brothers, Tom (Rose) Pasloski, Jerry (Sonia) Pasloski, Richard Pasloski; brother-in-law, Dick Olson; sister-in-law, Vivian Pasloski; nephew, Barry Pasloski; and niece, Claudia Hilderman.
