Eva Fernande Crossland

1929 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Fernande Crossland (nee Denis). She passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on April 25^th, 2024, at the age of 94.

Mom loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards, Scrabble, or anything that could result in her winning two-bits. Puzzles were Mom’s passion though. Her patience was never tested, no matter how many pieces there were. Sometimes, in the last few years, it didn’t even matter if the pieces really fit. Her laughter and quick wit were never too far from her tongue, but this never took away from how sweet and kind Mom always remained.

The oldest of 14 children, Mom learned the value of hard work at a young age, helping raise her younger siblings. Mom left the farm in 1948 when she married Lucien Bruneau. They were gifted two beautiful little girls, Sylvia and Pauline. Tragically, Lucien passed away in 1953, and left mom to raise their daughters. She remarried 2 years later to Albert Crossland, a marriage that lasted 55 years. Rarely in those 55 years were they apart for long. Travelling became their passion, as far north as Alaska, and spending winters in Texas, for as long as they were able.

Eva is survived by: Her daughter Sylvia Orieux and her children Claudelle (Donnie), Vince (Wendy), and Rod (Karla) and great-grandchildren Dustyn, Brandon (Ashleigh), Ryan, Dillon, Jake, Colton, Alyx, Carter, and Riley

Her daughter Pauline Thiel and her children Nadine (Tim) Bryant, Cindy (Treana Tuchscherer), and Kevin (Randie) and great-grandchildren Anna, Ashton, Stephen (Asja), Ethan, Taylor and Nikolas.

Her siblings Raymonde Bouchard, Rolande Poulin, Simone Chase, Liliane Gerard, Anne Marie Compagna, Paul (Lorraine) Denis, Ernie (Doris) Denis, Claude (Sue) Denis, Celine Doucette, Cecile (Sid) Klics, and Charles (Deanna) Denis.

Her sisters-in-law Alison Denis, and Yvette Denis.

Eva was predeceased by:      Her parents Louis and Laurette Denis

Her husbands: Lucien Bruneau and Albert Crossland

Her sons-in-law Gerry Orieux and Robert Thiel

Her great-grandchild Samuel Thiel

Her brothers Gilbert Denis and Armand Denis

Her sister in-law Glenda Denis

Her brothers-in-law Albert Bouchard, Leo Poulin, Murray Chase, Roland Gerard, Real Compagna and Wilfred Doucette.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Ramel Macapala Monday May 6, 2024 at 11:00am at Ste. Therese Roman Catholic Church, Leoville, SK. Interment in the Peaceful Pines Cemetery, Chitek Lake, SK. will follow a reception in the Community Centre after the funeral mass.
