Obituary of Roland Arthur Joseph Beauchesne
Roland Arthur Joseph Beauchesne, who many may know as "Rocky", was born on the crisp spring day of April 5, 1952, in Prince Albert, to his proud parents Fern and Madeline Beauchesne. He was the second of 4 children, an older sister, Jeanine, and two younger sisters, Henrietta, and Delores. The four children spent their early years growing up in Leoville and later in Spiritwood, Sk. To accompany his gusto for music, Roland learned to play piano through lessons provided at the convent until achieving his Grade 8. These acquired skills would later fulfill the soundtrack to all family gatherings to come. Rocky's teenage years and early twenties were very much enjoyed, as many stories will inform you. In 1976 Roland and Laura, his "California Blonde", were married. And over the next few years they raised 4 children on the homestead in the Laventure area.
Roland grew up farming with his father, Fern Beachesne. One of his earliest memories was of when he was about 8 years old and solo on an open cab tractor. His focus and enthusiasm in farming continued throughout his life. The Beauchesne family farm saw its third generation when his son, Alexander, joined the team. All three of the girls continue to return annually to eagerly help with harvest. Roland took a great deal of pride in and passion for his farm and family. He instilled in his children working hard but not without enjoying the process; that as long as you have the ones you love around you, and you were working together, the elixir for a good life is complete.
Roland lived his life with enthusiasm, laughter, song and dance, and a proficiency in socializing, storytelling and the provision of long-standing nicknames. He lived large and he loved hard. Roland passed away April 27, 2024, at the homestead, RM of Spiritwood, SK., at the age of 72. The celebration of Roland's life will not go silently into the night - we will miss you Rocky.
