Obituary of George Earl Rogers
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved George. George Earl Rogers passed away peacefully in Chilliwack, B.C. on Sunday, May 19th, 2024.
George Earl Rogers was born on a homestead in Brightholme, Saskatchewan (near Shellbrook) to Margaret “Peg” and Earl Rogers. He was raised there until he was 12 years old when his parents separated. George moved with his mother to Nipawin and later to Prince Albert. He was proud of his Saskatchewan roots and always shared stories of his beginnings when he attended Pine Grove School. George loved his experiences on the farm and learned the strong work ethic that was instilled in him. He was a hardworking man who was humble about his accomplishments. He always said what you put into something is what you will get out of it. George was a successful businessman who owned and operated King’s Tire which he opened at Pine Village in 1979 and then moved into Prince Albert in 1988. George provided tire and mechanical service to the Prince Albert area for over 22 years. He always valued providing the best service to his customers and went the extra mile. He took pride in the recognition and many awards he received for going above and beyond in his care for his customers. George treated his employees like they were his family as they spent so much time together at work.
George met the love of his life, Phyllis in Prince Albert. They were married July 24, 1965, and shared 58 wonderful years together. They welcomed their son Allan and then their daughter Carole to their family. Family was always the pillar for George, and he was proud of his children. He taught them the importance of values and celebrated their achievements. George and Phyllis enjoyed travelling together and exploring new areas. He became a proud Papa when his grandson Lucas was born. Lucas was George’s little bud with whom he shared many stories and much joy. George was able to spend lots of quality time with his only grandchild after he retired. George loved to spend time with his family at their cabin at Emma Lake. He always enjoyed capturing special moments in nature with his camera. George loved boating around the lake and watching the animals. The lake was a place where George found solitude and enjoyment in the little things in life. He could always be found puttering in the yard and he always had projects on the go. George and Phyllis could spend hours talking to each other and reminiscing about the past. They later spent their winters in Chilliwack, B.C. to be closer to their family. They loved travelling and visiting many countries. Hawaii was very special to them.
George loved to dance and had a natural talent to move. His love of music showed when he would sit and listen to music and reflect on his life. George was a gentle man with a big heart. He shared his wisdom with his family from his own experiences. George was thoughtful of others and would display random acts of kindness to those dear to him. He was energetic and had a fast pace when he walked which was hard to keep up with at times. In November 2000, George decided to retire and spend time enjoying life. He was always happy to see a friendly face when he was in the community and welcomed visits with family. He was never idle and always had a list of things to do.
George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis (nee Slusar); son: Allan; daughter: Carole (Kelly Stadnyk) and their son, Lucas Rogers-Stadnyk. He is also survived by his brother: Harold (Lyla) Rogers; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends.
George was predeceased by his parents, Margaret “Peg” (Arthur) Buckle; Earl Rogers; and his parents-in-law, Bill and Anne Slusar. George will be dearly missed by those that loved him. George, you had a heart of gold. Rest in peace my dear.
