Obituary of Georgia Anderson

ANDERSON- Georgia Anderson, age 92, late of Shellbrook, passed away in Whispering Pine Care Home in Canwood on Friday, July 2, 2010. Georgia was born on December 20, 1917 in Prince Albert, and was raised in Marchant Grove, which is named after her father. Georgia attended Silver Cliff and Rayside schools, and worked at home until marrying Edwin Anderson on February 9, 1942. They had one son, Edwin Jr. Georgia and Edwin lived in Saskatoon for one year, then Edwin enlisted in the Army. After the war, they moved back to Marchant Grove, and stayed until 1973, when they moved to Shellbrook. Georgia was a volunteer at many places and functions, such as being President of the Young People's Club, and Secretary for the Ladies Aid for 15 years. Georgia performed solos for many weddings and funerals, accompanied be her sister, Lilly, playing the organ. Georgia and Lilly were always active in the Church, and in church choirs. Georgia leaves to mourn, her son Edwin of Saskatoon; her grandchildren Jocelyn Anderson (Landon Creasey) and their children Zachary and Nicholas, and Jennifer Anderson (Marc Hudon); several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Marchant; her parents Helen and Henry Marchant. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Shellbrook on Saturday, July 10 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Norbert Haukenfrers as officiant. The organist will be David Hjertaas, and the hymns will be sung by the Shellbrook Community Choir. Albert Hannigan performed a solo and led the readings. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
