My deepest condolences to Bev, Josh, Jenn, and family.
I'm so deeply saddened to hear the news of cousin Joe's passing. Thank you for so many fond memories of water skiing, racing boats, knee boarding, and tubing at Emma Lake with Josh and the family. Bev, I can still remember the cookies you'd give my brother, sister, and me every time we came to visit. Rest in peace, Joe.
With love,

My deepest condolences Bev and family.
Cousin Joe taught me how to get in trouble. My parents would drop me, the city kid, off at the farm while they went off and helped with harvest etc. Joe and I got in trouble for shooting sparrows in the garden. Joe and I got in trouble for driving the truck around the yard. When I went to Saskatoon for University I took Joe’s place as a boarder at Uncle Henry’s apartment and at the nightly Kaiser game (when I probably should have been studying). I was in Engineering and Joe was in Agriculture so we inevitably crossed paths at “social” events in the bowl. I lost my pants (twice) thanks to Joe and his Ag friends (I had a knack for being in the wrong palace at the wrong time; Joe always made sure I got my pants back in time for class). Joe was the master of ceremonies at my wedding. I can still picture him standing on a table proclaiming his allegiance to the College of Agriculture, surrounded by my engineering friends. I admit I lost touch over the years, but the memories will last. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Bev, Josh, Jennifer & family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. During this time there are no words that can heal your broken hearts. Please know so many people care and are sending their thoughts, prayers, love and support to all of you. Joe was kind, considerate and an absolute joy to work with. I'll always remember his delightful laugh and I sure hope I've learned from his practical sensibility. I was truly honored that he gave me the opportunity to be part of the Span West family. The legacy he has left behind was his true gift.
Keeping you in my thoughts,
Cheryl

My cousin Joe, one of the nicest, decent men I’ve come to know.
My cousin Joe always had the biggest smiles, that matched his big heart. My cousin Joe was honest, kind and cared about others.
I have many memories of my cousin Joe, from my younger years spent on his family farm in Carrot River to the most recent memories at Emma Lake sharing stories and reminiscing together.
Who went for bike rides and picked Saskatoon berries with my Mom at Emma Lake….my cousin Joe.
Who did I play the game ‘kick the can’ with on the farm at Carrot River….my cousin Joe.
Who checked my Mom’s cabin for those little critters, making sure all was well….my cousin Joe.
Who was always willing to help my husband Morley fix something by either lending a hand or tools or both….my cousin Joe. And the two of them would take turns lying on the pontoon boat cushion while driving on the lake….something to do with therapy sessions?!
Who rescued me and my friend at Waskesui when that 1981 Mercedes had a locked gas cap….yes, it was my cousin Joe.
Who towed my kids behind his boat when I was up at Emma Lake….my cousin Joe.
Who took me to my grade 12 grad because I didn’t have a date & made me feel special pretending he was my boyfriend by holding my hand & putting his arm around me ...my cousin Joe.
I will miss you cousin Joe. Thank you for giving me such wonderful memories that will make me smile when I think of you….. until we meet again. Save some of that heavenly flavoured ice cream for me.
Your cousin,
Patsy

Dear Bev,
I hope that you know how special Joe was to me. We had many wonderful chats over the years, and I was especially fond of our discussions of his adventures in Thailand with Global Neighbors Canada. Joe had such warmth, was quick to smile and extend a hug or handshake every time he greeted all of us at Calvary United Church. He will be dearly missed.
