Both my sister Sheri and I worked at the Homestead in late 80s, early 90s. My dad Isaac called him up and he hired us, no questions asked. It was some of my fondest memories working at the Homestead, particularly scooping ice cream in the “giant pink ice cream cone” he had built. Laurie was a kind employer and had a contagious laugh. Not a time goes by I don’t think of him, my late sister, and my first employment, when we pass by Northside in the way to the lake. Sending my deepest condolences to his friends and family.
