Obituary of Leslie "Bob" Wingerter
WINGERTER: Leslie Robert, better known to all as Bob, passed away suddenly at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert on July 9, 2011 at the age of 67 years. Bob suffered a severe stroke and left this world with his wife Dianne at his side. Bob was born June 24, 1944 in Ottawa Ontario. When the war was over, his dad and mom and wee Bob moved back West, first to Saskatoon, then to Mildred. He attended school at Cresco, Mildred Dale, Fort St. James, Notre Dame and St. Thomas College. After grade ten, he left school to work in the bush camps of B.C. The fall of 1961 Bob bought a quarter of land SE32-50-9 from Mike Koska. He and Dianne resided on this land for 46 years raising 4 children and raising thousands of head of cattle, expanding his land base to 80 some quarters. Livestock was Bob's main love. He always said shit washed off easier than grease. On September 15, 1962, Bob married Dianne Lindsay of Fort St. James. They farmed in the summer and worked out West in the winter till Barb started school. Bob had a great love for his grandkids, but they always knew Grandpas word was the law. Bob loved his card games, no matter what the game was, he played his best to win. He will leave an empty chair at his regular Monday night poker game. Over the years Bob was involved in many organizations, he coached hockey for a few years plus played the game. His greatest love was the years he spent as a member of the Rodeo Committee, the people he met and worked with, and the camaraderie. There were many rodeo parties. Bob leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife of 49 years, Dianne of Mildred, Sk. And their children: Barbara & Ernie Heidt and their children Danyelle & Kolby of North Battleford, Sk.; Terrance & Coralie Wingerter and their children Alyssa & Devan of Spiritwood, Sk.; Bryan & Tammy Wingerter and their children Jayden & Jacelyn of Spiritwood, Sk.; Kimberly & Alistair Buchan and their children Ryan, Colin & Tyson of Fort St. John, B.C.; his brother James & Donell of Mildred, Sk. And their children, Jamell & Myles Heppner (Matthew, Sara, Kayla, Emily), Steven & Cecilia Wingerter, Donald & Erin Wingerter (Corbin and Teigan); his mother in law Juanita Lindsay of Leoville, his only aunt Violet & Wally Bayne of Battleford, Sk., numerous cousins, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter Faith Marie, his parents Linus and Beryl, his father in law George Lindsay, many aunts and uncles, as well as aunts and uncles in law. The prayer service was held Wednesday July 13, 2011 and the Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday July 14, 2011, both from the Sacred Heart RC Church in Spiritwood with Rev. Fr. Francis Agbezuge celebrant. The music was performed by the Schira Family, the eulogist was Todd Olson, the cross bearer was Kolby Heidt, offertory done by Danyelle Heidt & Alyssa Wingerter. The readers were Bryan Wingerter, Jamell Heppner and Donell Wingerter. The presentation of symbols was done by Ryan, Tyson and Colin Buchan. The honorary pallbearers were Perry Robinson, Jim Anderson, Armand Smith, Don Wingerter, Jim Wingerter, Steven Wingerter, Rueban Peters, and all friends and relatives who have shared in Bob's life. His pallbearers were Bryan, Terry, Jayden and Devan Wingerter, Ernie Heidt, Alistair Buchan, Sid Hassal and Jody Saam. Donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Northern Lakes Health Committee c/o the Town of Spiritwood. Bob was laid to rest in the Mildred South Cemetery. Email condolences will be forwarded
