Numerous grandchildren, great and great, great as well as other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Julius Jaster in 1994, her parents, Peter and Theresa Chubak, her son Fred, her daughter Donna Tung, her sons-in-law, George Willick and Lucien Raby, her daughter-in-law, Ingrid Jaster, her grandsons, Dale Willick and Joey Jaster, great grandchild Dylan Szatkowski, a sister Olga Neilson, and a brother, Nick (Leona) Chubak. Francis was born on June 25th, 1920 in Alvena, SK to Peter and Theresa Chubak. During her childhood the Chubak family made the move to a homestead south of Shell Lake. On October 26th, 1936, she married the neighbour boy Julius Jaster. They homesteaded near Big Shell for over 50 years. Everything was home grown at the Jaster house, the meat, and the vegetables, even the mitts and socks she made were spun from the wool of the sheep on the farm. Times were tough and money was scarce but like many pioneers they seemed to do a lot with very little, through hard work and perseverance. After her husband Julius passed away in 1994, she continued to live on the farm. In September 2007 she suffered a stroke and it became evident that she could not return to live in her own home. On January 23, 2008 she became a permanent resident at the Spiritwood Health Complex. Even though she was physically unable to do many things, her mind was sharp and soon the staff learned to appreciate and enjoy her sharp sense of humor and the twinkle in her eye. We may no longer see you, but we will always have those special moments we shared with you. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 28th, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the Shell Lake Lion's Hall in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan with Rev. David Jensen officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Francis' memory may be made to Idylwild Lodge Activities.
