It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doris Fee of Chitek Lake on January 22, 2012, at the Evergreen Health Center with family by her side. Doris was born in Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. on March 29, 1922. At the age of ten she moved with her mother Marguerite Pickard to Saskatchewan, ending up at Chitek Lake. She left Chitek Lake at the age of 16 to find work in the Idylwild-Twin Bay district. She was working for the Frasers when she went to a dance in the Twin Bay School and met the love of her life - Raymond Fee. They farmed east of Ranger where they raised their family of four. On the farm she enjoyed her horses, cattle, turkeys, chickens etc. She always had a big garden and kept a beautiful yard. She made sure there was food on the table for her family. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting many afghans for members of the family, as well as baking and cooking. The coffee pot was always on when company came. Together they enjoyed camping trips and picking berries, she always had her German Shepherd dog with her. Later on, nearing retirement, they rented a house in Chitek Lake and finally bought their own home which they resided in until she had to go into the Evergreen Health Center. In Chitek Lake she was involved in the Seniors, Ladies Club and Recreation Board. In 2001 she was diagnosed with Lymphoma. She had two chemo treatments and could not take any more. She went into remission until the fall of 2011. Then she spent a month in Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert finding the disease had returned. She became a patient in the Evergreen Health Center in Leoville until her passing. The Funeral Service was held January 27, 2012 at the Chitek Lake Community Hall with Delores Beaulac as Officiant.
