Obituary of Nelson George Colley
One in a million as a son, brother, uncle, Dad, and friend, George was born on Nov. 11, 1928 in Saskatoon to Nelson and Mary Colley. George passed away on May 3, 2012. George was born after Louise and followed by Norman and Dorothy, these four siblings made sure their household was never boring, never a dull moment. In 1949 George worked on a farm in Smiley, SK moving to Medstead to drive the fuel truck in 1950, and in 1951 went to work for Wells Construction remaining there until his marriage in 1957. George met Vivian Moline and married on November 16, 1957, and then took over his parent's farm in the Artichoke area. In 1969, George took on the job of patrol operator in the RM of Medstead. As patrol operator his nieces and nephews enjoyed rides on the grader. In 1974 George and Vivian bought a farm in the Belbutte area. Later that same year they adopted their son and daughter Darwin and Deanne. Many days were then spent at the Medstead Arena cheering on the kids with their hockey and figure skating. George also enjoyed fishing with his family, hunting moose and deer with his brother Norman, and friends Pat, Court and Ed. In 1993 George and Vivian sold their farm and retired to Spiritwood. They spent time enjoying scenic countryside drives, playing cards, and time with family and friends. George was known for his teasing ways and practical jokes, if he wasn't teasing you or pushing your lemon pie in your face. George was a loving, affectionate, protective, kind, honest and caring man. Spending time and teasing his precious grandchildren was also very important to George. He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 54 years, Vivian; his children: Deanne (Brad), Darwin and the mother of his children, Marla and his grandchildren: Tyler, Kalin, Troy, Brett, Jesse, Hope, Paige. George also leaves his siblings with fond, loving memories: Louise (Eric) Haubold, Norman (Doris) Colley, Dorothy Hamm His siblings in-law: Clarice Collins (Frank Caplette), Del Seiersen, Joan (Lyle) Smith, Lawrence (Freda) Moline and Marv (Darlene) Moline, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. George is predeceased by: his parents, Nelson and Mary Colley, his brother in-law, Roy Hamm, his sisters' in-law, Verna Elias and Evelyn Mathison, his nephew, Kenneth Elias, and an infant nephew.
