Obituary of Leo Laberge
Laberge, Leo - It is with great sorrow that the family of Leo Laberge announces his sudden passing on June 3rd, 2006 in Shellbrook, SK at the age of 43. He was born on April 28th, 1963 in Leoville, SK to Romeo and Marie Laberge. No matter what took Leo away, whether it was work or travel, he always came back to one place, the family farm by Leoville. Spending time with Dad, seeding, haying, harvesting or enjoying a horseback ride were some of Leo's fondest memories. He was the happiest when he spent time with family or friends playing cards. A good game of Kaiser would consist of a little cheating, a good argument and of course, winning! Leo was a responsible person who worked hard on behalf of others and his community. The Knights of Columbus and the Trail Riders were two organizations Leo dedicated a great deal of his life to. Family was a very important part of Leo's life. He often spoke of Hope and Allyss with great pride and would tell of their accomplishments. He was very proud of his mother, Marie, and his four sisters Cecile, Anne, Therese and Suzanne. Of course he had his two brothers left to fight with, Paul and Marcel. The one message Leo would leave for his daughters, nephews and nieces is "There is nothing thicker than blood or more important than the love of family. Be proud and stand tall." Leo talked with great pride on how his special family of Marcel & Mary and family, Vince & Susan and family and Leon & Marge and family welcomed and included him in their families. Only our creator knows when our time on earth is done. Unfortunately for Leo, only the past few months he found his place in life and was at peace with himself. Go, rest in peace; we will miss you, but we will not forget you. Leo leaves to cherish his memory his children Hope of Athabasca, AB and Allyss of Edmonton, AB; his mother Marie of Shellbrook, SK; his sisters Cecile of Prince Albert, SK, Anne of Ottawa, ON, Therese English (Monty) & their children Zackary and Mikayla of Stephenville, NF and Suzanne Dupuis (Lionel) & their children Whitney and Laurette of Cut Knife, SK; a brother Marcel (Lori) Laberge & their children Tyler, Paul and Desiree of Lloydminster, AB; his god parents Paul & Claire Couture of Saskatoon, SK as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and countless friends. He was predeceased by his father Romeo on Nov 1, 1993, a brother Paul on July 9, 1979, his maternal grandparents Mr & Mrs Robert Schultz, his paternal grandparents Mr & Mrs Albert Laberge and a special "brother" Percy Tetreault June 30, 2001. The funeral service was celebrated on Saturday, June 10th, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Leoville Community Hall with Rev. Fr. Lennard Sabio as the officiant. The cross bearer was his God Daughter Desiree Laberge. The music was by Ed Thiel & Sue Poulin and the eulogy was read by Marcel Laberge. Honor Guards were formed by the Knights of Columbus and Leoville Trail Riders. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hope Laberge Education Trust Fund c/o BCU Financial Leoville. Honorary pall bearers were all relatives and friends that shared in Leo's life and the urn bearer was Marie Laberge. Leo was laid to rest in the Leoville Cemetery. Beau "Lac" Funeral Home was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
