Obituary of Edwin "Les" Leslie Boechler

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Edwin Leslie Boechler, husband, father, and grandfather on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the age of 64 years. Les was born on March 28, 1948 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, youngest son of the late Andrew and Margaret Boechler. Les leaves to cherish is memory: his wife, Marlene Boechler; their children, Alison(Dale) Fulkerth and their children Jordan, Delaney, Paige, Shelby, Britt, of Lloydminster, AB, Tari-Lynn(Randy) Sather and their son Noah of Lloydminster, AB, and Kathy(Don) Arseneault and their children Hannah, Lauryn, and Hayley of Strathmore, AB.; his brothers Jack(Carol) Boechler of Spiritwood, SK; Mark(Pat) Boechler of Spalding, SK; Sister-in-laws Emma(Art) Burachenski of Prince Albert, SK; Ray(Jean) Riffel Lac de Bonnie, MB; and Bernice(Vic) Maruschak of Prince Albert, SK. and many nieces and nephews. Les was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, lived in various towns in Saskatchewan early on, then spent most of his childhood growing up on his parents farm near Spiritwood, Sk. Les had become a Barber early on in his life, where he barbered in Prince Albert, Sk for a number of years. Les also farmed alongside his father, Andrew Boechler. In 1973, Les went to Billings, Montana, to become an Auctioneer, and from there he worked at the Spiritwood Stockyards, Prince Albert Stockyards, and has spent over 30 years running his own Auction business, with his most recent company “Boechler –Schira Auctioneering”. His legacy will live on through the company and his employees. Les spent his last few years working for Fast Genetics twice a week, which he ever much enjoyed his time there. Les married his loving wife, Marlene, of 43 years on August 2, 1969.They started raising their family in Prince Albert, Sk, then in 1982, soon moved to Spiritwood and purchased the Spiritwood Motor Inn. While they raised their three daughters, Les spent many hours volunteering in the community, including auctioning at a variety of fundraising events, coaching “Red Devils” senior hockey team, announcing at parades, etc. They moved to acreage outside Mildred, soon after selling the motel. Les loved spending time with family, especially all his grandchildren. He enjoyed having them all come to the farm to visit. Les took much pleasure in the beauty of nature. He spent many hours with his wife and family, fishing in the summer, ice fishing, camping, watching birds and all the wild life that came in his yard. Les lost a hard fought battle to Cancer on Monday, December 17, 2012, with his wife and three children by his bedside in the Shellbrook Hospital. Les was laid to rest at the Mildred South Cemetery. No words can be expressed how greatly he will be missed by his family. Donations in memory of Edwin Leslie Boechler can be made to the Shellbrook Hospital and Health Services Project.
