Obituary of Floyd Albert Wasden

Floyd was born to Albert and Irene Wasden on May 15, 1937 on the train enroute to Prince Albert between the Villages of Shell Lake and Hawkeye. Floyd passed away December 25, 2012. Floyd went to school at Westwood and Mildred Dale. He was involved in 4-H as a member parent and grandparent. Floyd believed in family, friends, and farming. He always felt the importance of family gatherings when all his children and grandchildren were at the same place together as a family. He also enjoyed a fishing trip and camping with his family. He loved playing in the fire pit to make sure each log had an equal chance to burn. Farming was his passion. He believed in not putting all the eggs in one basket. He enjoyed his Hereford cattle for their calm demeanor and doing ability. He took pride in quality both in cattle and grain. Like most farmers he enjoyed watching his crops grow. He would be mad at himself if every row was not seeded straight or if he left a strip when spraying. In the late 70’s the humble farmer had that Bonanza barley crop that went 95/ bushel per acre. That result was never broadcast at coffee row. It was kept between Floyd and Roberta and some children that had big ears who might have been listening. As Floyd’s sons began taking over the family farm, Floyd would take a step back and let them do the work. He would not resist driving around in his ½ ton following the combine or baler to watch his family farming. This made his daughter-in-laws a little nervous with but it came to be common to see him drive into the field just to see what was going on. We are sure he will still be guiding us around the fields for years to come. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Roberta (married August 2, 1960) children Denise (Earl) Henderson, and their children Kelan ( Becky Sieme) Henderson, Riley ( Jenna Rathgeber) Henderson; Claude (Adele) Wasden, and their children Farin Mellisa and Megan Wasden; Ian (Sue Kahl) Wasden and their children Dalton and Reese Wasden, Ashley and Shania Bourassa. His sister Doreen Wasyliw, his mother-in-law Rose Smith, a special aunt Auralia Wasden, and a special cousin Bonnie Isaacson, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Irene Wasden, his father-in-law Robert ( Bob) Smith, his special uncles Roy Wasden and Walter (Bill) Isaacson. Funeral Service for Floyd was held on Sunday, December 30th, 2012 ~ 2:00 pm from the Civic Center in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan. Memorial Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society 54—11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9 or to The Choice of the Donor.
