Obituary of Joyce Mayo

Joyce Mayo, born August 3, 1937, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2006. Joyce will be sadly missed by Herb Mayo; daughter Wendy (Doug) Yuzwenko, grandchildren Jarett (Val), Chantel (Brad), Kayleigh and Alexi; sisters Melva Horn, Darlene (Gordon) Urban, Ina (Wayne) McQuat and Bonnie (Ron) Penig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends. She was predeceased by her children Miles, Valerie and Cecile, her infant grandson Zeb and her parents James and Lydia Sandy. Joyce loved being with her grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, gardening and the company of her friends. Seniors also had a special place in her heart. The funeral service was held on Saturday September 9th, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Lion's Hall in Shell Lake with Rev. Peter Nolan as the officiant. The soloist was Bill Martodam who sang the hymns Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee and Rock of Ages. The honorary pallbearers were all relatives and friends who shared in Joyce's life. Active pallbearers were Ed Dyck, Gerald Erickson, John Morrow, Richard Battersby, Lawrence Hart and Bill Reed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Joyce was laid to rest in the Shell Lake Cemetery.
